Throwback Thursday Stories- Ms. Susie Bob

In July of 2013, our family went down to Folly Beach, SC.  On our first full day, we were looking out on the beach and noticed there was a crowd of people.  

I volunteered to take the four children (Crazy One and Know-it-All, niece, and nephew) down to see what the people were looking at.

Once we got down there, we discovered they were looking at a huge horseshoe crab.  The kids named it "Bob" until one of the ladies told us it was a female.  At that point, the kids renamed it "Ms. Susie Bob."

The next picture is my absolute favorite picture of the Crazy One with Ms. Susie Bob.

Throwback Thursday Stories - Beach in the Morning

Last summer, we traveled to our favorite beach for a week with our family.  It ended up being the last family vacation with my father-in-law.

This picture was taken the morning we left the beach.  I wanted both boys to go down to the beach before we left so I could get a picture of them in the sun as it was rising in the morning.  Know-it-All was willing to allow me to get the perfect picture.

Crazy One was crying instead so I never got the perfect shot of him in the morning light.

I love this picture.  It is also one of Hubby's favorite pics of Know-it-All because a copy of it is hanging in our living room.

It's pretty good.  I only wish Crazy One was not crying in the picture.

Throwback Thursday Stories - A Blast from the Past

I've talked about working at Walt Disney World as part of the college program.

A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled across two envelopes that contained negatives.  When I held them up to the light, I noticed they were Disney pics at Christmas time.  The only time I was at Disney at Christmas was when I was on the College Program.

Hubby took the negatives to Sam's Club and had them converted into digital pictures,

Throwback Thursday - Nine Years Ago . . .

Nine years ago today was Father's Day.  I started to show early signs of labor and was very uncomfortable.

That Tuesday, we went out to the Girl Scout camp and walked around.  There was a big hill by the main building.  I walked down it to the hollow tree that was in the back of the property.  Hubby refused to allow me to climb into the hollow tree because he didn't want me to get stuck.

After visiting the Girl Scout camp, we went to Young's Dairy which is one of our favorite places.  I was in a lot of pain by that point.  We also thought my water had broken so we went to the doctor's to be checked out.  My water had not broken but they said I was going to have Crazy One very soon.

Know-It-All and I took a walk that evening.  I had to stop every 10 steps or so because I was having contractions.  Know-It-All was 23 months old.  He was very sweet during that walk.

The next day I went to Walmart to use a gift certificate.  I started to have real contractions there so I went home and laid down.  The contractions were coming frequently.  So Hubby dialed the number to the doctors but had me talk to the doctor when I could barely talk or walk at that point.

Once we got to the hospital, the doctor told me that I was in active labor and wasn't going anywhere.  I labored at the hospital for about 7 hours before Crazy One was born at 38 weeks and 1 day.  

It was a good thing he was born then because he had a true knot in his cord and probably wouldn't have made it if I remained pregnant.

June 22, 2005 at 22:22 was a day that changed our lives.  It became a little more Crazy at our house but I wouldn't change a thing.

Throwback Thursday Stories - True Love!

Today's theme for Throwback Thursday is dad.  The last time I saw my father was in 1985.  He died in 1996.  My father-in-law was like a dad to me so this Throwback Thursday post is perfect.

Today would have been my in-laws' 48th wedding anniversary.  My father-in-law died in December so this is their first anniversary after his death.

Throwback Thursday Stories - Siblings

As I said before, Hubby and I were married in May of 1999.  On our year anniversary, we had a bigger wedding because our first wedding only had 11 guests.  We wanted to invite friends and family from out of town so we held a bigger wedding.

This picture is of my grandpa and three of his five siblings.  All four of them are now gone.  :(  And my aunt thinks it may have been one of the last pictures of all four of them together.

Uncle John had served in the army during World War II.  He was drafted even though he had 2 little girls home with another one on the way.  From what I'm told, he was a medic on the front lines for General Patton's army.  He died in 2009 (I think).

Aunt Janet and her husband had a farm.  We would have family gatherings at the farm.  I have a lot of memories of being up at the farm.  She died in 2004.

Grandpa was a tail gunner in World War II.  Forty years after the war, he allowed my sister, mom, and myself to move into his house.  Even though he could have retired, he continued working to provide us with a house and food.  I am very thankful for that sacrifice.  He died 2003 on the anniversary of one of his missions.

Uncle Corky (not his real name) was my favorite uncle.  He taught me about my family history.  When my grandma was going through all of her medical problems in 2007-2008, he would spend time with her.  He died in 2008 three months before my grandma.

I miss all four of them.

Throwback Thursdays - Shy Girl

May of 1999, Hubby and I were married on a Thursday morning.

One year later on a Saturday, we had our big wedding and reception because our original wedding was a small affair for only 11 guests.

That's my grandpa walking me down the aisle.  I miss so much.  Three and a half years later he passed away.

The little girl just graduated from high school last Friday night.  She was scared to go down the aisle without me.  In fact, she hid behind my dress.  

We are celebrating her graduation on Saturday so this Throwback Thursday is dedicated to her success.  And a wish for her future.  

I've been in her life since she was 1.5 years old so most of her life.  I've watched her grown from a toddler to a young adult.  Now she's off to spread her wings at the college of her dreams.

Throwback Thursday stories - Loose teeth

Happy Thursday!  One more day until Friday which means the weekend is almost here.  I've got a lot of fun things planned this weekend.

This morning I looked through my pictures and found these pics.  It was the winter of 2009.  Know-It-All had a loose tooth and was bugging  everyone with his constant wiggling of the tooth.  While at church, his aunt helped try to get it out.  Someone else suggested tying a string to it and to a door handle and then shutting the door.

None of those methods worked.  It was the constant wiggling of the tooth that caused the tooth to eventually fall out that afternoon.

Know-It-All was 5.

Now he tells me that a tooth is loose and then hands me the tooth wrapped in a paper towel while we are at a Cub Scouts meeting.  True story.
